Is there another food for dogs that have bladder stones besides Hills UD?

Yes, Royal Canin is also used for bladder stones (and dogs like it better than Hill's) Here is the product info from the manufacturer: ROYAL CANIN Veterinary Diet™ Canine URINARY SO™ (canned) and URINARY SO 13™ (dry) are complete and balanced diets for adult dogs formulated to aid in the management of canine lower urinary tract disease. What can dissolve kidney stones?

Since most kidney stones are mineral in nature, especially calcium salts, a more acidic urine may dissolve this over several months. It is unlikely that an acidic enough urine could be consistently maintained, since the kidneys try to keep the acidity balanced in the urine. These will either pass on their own or can be surgically removed, often laparoscopically. Then the best advice is to make a habit of keeping well hydrated and more urine produced every day.

Does cat food make dogs have kidney stones?

There is currently no evidence to show that dogs who eat cat food (either on occasion or frequently) develop kidney problems solely due to the food. Kidney stones can be caused by several factors, such as urine that is too concentrated (often due to dehydration), or urine that is more alkaline than acidic. Some breeds of dog, such as Yorkshire Terriers, Miniature Poodles, Dalmatians and English Bulldogs seem to be more susceptible to the condition. Diets high in grain and vegetables produce alkaline urine, which allows certain stones to form. Struvite stones for instance, dissolve in an acid urine, requiring a diet low in magnesium and high in protein. Different stones can require different treatments in order to manage them and prevent them reoccurring.

Does spinach cause kidney stones?

According to the tv show Reba, spinach does in fact cause kidney stones. With the right medication, it is possible to crap (pardon my language) the stone out, with one visit to the washroom, in the most painful way known to man and giraffes. I hope this will help you with your future fears of this green, so called "healthy" food product.
