Good recording techniques are very important to get quality audio with any mic you use.
Make sure that the room you are in is void of any sort of constant noise like computers, heaters, fans, fridges, neon lights and younger siblings/nagging spouses/douche-bag room mates. These things can sound like static in your recording.
The AT2020's diaphragm is oriented vertically, so when you record into it, make sure you are positioned to the side of the mic. I know it sounds stupid, but often people will use the AT2020 like a Popsicle and they end up making a crappy recording and more often than not look like a retard.
Gain staging is critical to eliminate as much static as possible. Keep your gain as low as you can and your audio source close to the mic (but not too close as to avoid wind from vocals). Experiment with different combinations of levels so you get clear audio with little or no static.
If you do have static in the end, you can run a Low Pass Filter over the channel you recorded on. Figure out what frequency the static is at and reduce the gain as much as you can without affecting the audio recording.

The microphone. Because it is the gateway to your recording, your recording can be only as good as your microphone allows. While both are important, it is possible to get a good recording from a great microphone and poor recording unit, but the best recording unit can make only a poor recording from a poor microphone.
You can make a stereo recording from a microphone if you have an array microphone. An array microphone is a microphone that contains 2 or more microphones. It allows for stereo recording because the microphones are independent of each other. Therefore, they can record on separate channels (stereo recording). Besides an array microphone, the only other thing that you would need is an audio software that allows for stereo recording. Many softwares offer this, such as CoolEdit.
usually a dynamic microphone is used for live performances such as a rock band because its not as sensitive as a condenser mic which is used for recording.
You might not be able to record audio because your microphone is not working correctly or because your recording program is damaged. Check your microphone by selecting the sound settings on your computer.
If you’ve got a hot new tune burning in the back of your head, the best way to keep it around is to record it, whether by writing out some sheet music or making an audio recording. While you can always use just any crummy computer or webcam microphone to record your song, your best bet is to opt for a real microphone that’s built for capturing crisp, clear audio. Below are some tips on how to choose a microphone: • Finding the proper microphone depends on what it is you are going to make a recording of. This is because different sounds produce different frequencies and also have an expected sound aesthetic. For instance, if you were to record a brass instrument you would want to record it so that the bright sound is easily heard; you don’t want a muddled recording. Likewise, voice recording should be very clear so that any necessary effects can be added later with minimal detriment to the original recording. A simple cardioid dynamic microphone works well for vocalists. • Before you buy a microphone to record your musical instruments, you need to take into consideration the space in which you will be conducting your recording sessions. If you’re going to be recording in a small space, you won’t need as sensitive of a microphone, but if you are recording in a large space you’ll want a microphone that is highly sensitive. Sometimes you might want to mix and match recording spaces and microphones to help develop a unique sound, but you’ll need to do experimenting to find out the best conditions. Having your own microphones to record your voice and musical instruments can turn into a fun hobby. If you make a recording you like, posting it on the Internet as a video might be a good idea to help it gain exposure. Who knows, maybe you’ll go viral and pick up a record deal?
Because of the frustrating nature of US sound recording copyright, no sound recordings will enter the public domain until February 15, 2067.

Because the ECMHW2 uses Bluetooth for communication, the audio quality will suffer. It is designed as a speech microphone, not for music capture. If you can get up close to the piano, try a Rode Videomic. If your Sony Camera does not have a microphone input, you can buy an adapter for your Active shoe.
If you are signed to a record label, it is because they think they can make money out of your recordings and music. Thus, they will pay for your recording time (including mixing and mastering) and for CD production. Most labels will do some publicity for the recording as well. If you are unsigned and you wanted to record your own music, you would have to pay the studio yourself.
