Many people today are interested in warfare and military matters, so one option would be the 19 year war between King Stephen of England and his cousin the "Empress" Matilda, which was the first English Civil War, also known as The Anarchy. It happened from 1135 to 1153 and resulted in a stalemate, neither side gaining military advantage. To confuse matters, king Stephen's own wife was also named Matilda.
The only two battles in England during the 12th century took place during this war: the Battle of the Standard in 1138 (really a side-show to the war, since it was against invading Scots) and the Battle of Lincoln in 1141 (when the King was taken prisoner, but later ransomed).
There were also numerous feeble sieges, a rogue knight (Geoffrey de Mandeville) who turned traitor to both sides and became a robber baron, the Bishop of Winchester (who also changed sides several times and was the brother of the king) who was appointed Papal Legate so he out-ranked the archbishop of Canterbury.
