Jasmine Rice.
No. Meat balls would be considered a main dish or side dish depending on how they are used. Just because you may bake them in the oven doesn't make them a baked good. Typically a baked good would be a dessert, bread, etc.
Mashed Potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing.
As a side dish 25 lbs of sweet potatoes should be enough for 70 people
It depends on how big of a meatball that you plan to make and whether your recipe calls for fillers like bread crumbs, eggs, etc. Also, will the meatball be the main course, like in sandwiches or a side dish to pasta? if you were just using ground beef, I would figure two meatballs per person for a side dish to pasta. Each meatball weighs about 4 ounces. So, about 40 pounds of meat would be my answer for a side dish.
Mushrooms are a good side dish with many main meals; they go with practically everything.
The best side dish for baked ham is potato salad. After potato salad comes sweet potatoes in any dish and cold slaw or a cabbage dish. Homemade dinner rolls will top off the meal....

A nice cold cucumber salad would go well with sweet and sour meatballs. Get either English or Persian cucumbers, peel off the dark outer skin with a vegetable peeler, slice into very thin rounds and put in glass or ceramic bowl. Add some salt and a white vinegar (white wine, rice, or champagne) and and some finely diced red onion and some chopped dill. You might also try a little bit of sugar (just a tiny bit).
