Vodka is a spirit which has no major flavor profile. It is made with neutral grain spirit andl water. So the only similar spirit would be a neutral grain spirit like everclear which is 190 proof (95% alcohol by volume). Essentially you are probably best to use vodka. Don't be afraid to try small batches with other spirits, you may be surprised what you can make.
