If you mean the difference between them (you have not clearly stated the specific way you would want it written), and want me to define both sports, this is my answer to your question:
Rugby is the closest known sport to football, except the rules are (of course) different. When your team is given the ball, you will attempt a quick and steady journey across the field to the other team's goal, forming a clump of people, with the ball in the center. The other team will try to aggressively (which has its limits) to push and yank others out of the way in order to get to the ball and make their own score before the team starting with the ball makes the goal. The origin beats me, but my guess would be a foreign country from the U.S.
Soccer can only partially relate to rugby: in Europe, it is translated to football, despite the United State's perspective of the sport. It can also relate with (most of) the safety rules of the game. Otherwise, soccer is generally a less physically violent sport than rugby. Soccer is where you oppose to a team, and kick, head-butt, shoulder, knee, drop-kick, etc. the ball, attempting to get it to the other side, while the "goalie(s)" guard/s the goal, trying to keep you from getting the ball in, scoring the given amount of points for you team. You will play this game, often publicly, usually despite the weather circumstances (I have had extremely unpleasant past experiences while playing this with hail, wind, darkness and rain, because it is to be played outside).
I realize I did not put this in the correct format of a thesis statement, but I had hoped it would be easier to read through it this way, for now. Feel free to condense it's size if you'd like :).

In order to write a thesis statement about Etta James one would choose a narrow topic regarding James and use it to create a thesis. Etta James sang the blues would be a good thesis to discuss her genre and songs she sang.
I believe the thesis for this essay is reading is essential for learning. Something along the lines of that.
All of these options make a good thesis statement
You're going about it backwards -- the thesis is a brief statement of what you're going to write about. Only you can come up with something you want to write about. Write the essay first, then your thesis will come to you from what you wrote.

A strong thesis statement on contraceptives could be: "Contraceptives play a crucial role in empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their reproductive health, contributing to overall well-being, gender equality, and family planning initiatives worldwide."
A good thesis statement should clearly state the main argument or point of the paper, be specific and focused, and guide the reader on what to expect in the rest of the paper. It should be debatable and present a unique perspective on the topic.
