There is no such specific area on the disk.

The files are simply marked as pending deletion where they are and added to the Trash list. When you tell the operating system to empty Trash it goes through the Trash list and changes the marks on the files in that list from pending deletion to deleted and removes them from the Trash list. If instead you tell the operating system to restore files from Trash it changes the marks back from pending deletion back to normal and removes them from the Trash list.

The files themselves never move in this process and are still recorded in the directory they previously existed in (even after being marked deleted and becoming inaccessible to the operating system).

What is a path to a file?

Files, on hard disks, are stored in different directories or folders. Folders can contain other folders. A path is the complete specification of disk and folders, required to reach the file. For example, in Windows, a filename, including its complete path, may look like this:c:\My Documents\Personal Stuff\MyText.docOnly the last part (MyText.doc) is the filename; the part before that is the path name.Files, on hard disks, are stored in different directories or folders. Your computer has 80 gb of storage but when you reinstalled windows xp it says it only has 6 gb of storage?

There are many different option how to reinstall the windows. I believe you choose that options which allows to keep all files from the previous operating system. If you want to get 80 Gbs back you have to format the drive (before back up your data) such option you can find during the installation process. Or you can clean the drive manually which will take a lot of time if you have your files in different folders.

If you need storage at your house a lifetime storage shed will certainly be less expensive than paying for storage at a facility over the years. It is best to gauge how long you need the storage before making the decision as to which option is best for your wallet.
