Moden non-corrosive primers are generally based on lead azide. Some may be based on lead styphanate. New lead free primers are based on a trade secret component- information is not published. Older corrosive priming compounds were based on potassium chlorate, and before that, fulminate of Mercury.
Excessive pressure, worn out primer pocket in a reloaded cartridge, bad headspace on the firearm, etc.
The simplest would be a single shot muzzle loading firearm. In modern cartridge firearms, a break action firearm. They are made as rifles, shotguns and pistols.
In a flint-lock firearm, the priming pan is where the spark from the flint ignites a small amount of gunpowder, which then ignites the main charge. If the firearm misfires, after having its primer ignited, you have a "flash in the pan."
In a modern firearm, pulling the trigger releases the hammer or striker, which drives the firing pin into the primer of the cartridge. The primer sends a spurt of flame into the cartridge case, igniting the gunpowder. This burns VERY rapidly, producing hot, expanding gasses. The high pressure of those gasses will push the bullet out of the gun barrel at high speed.
This for firearm saftey or somethin..... K the parts of a shotgun shell are the gunpowder primer casing and the bbs or slug
Exactly what is says, a primer made for small rifle ammunition.
Yes. The bullet is only the projectile. A bullet with case, powder, and primer is a cartridge. A cartridge without powder or primer is called a dummy cartridge because it will fit into a firearm but will not fire. Dummies are used for non firing training with weapons, and for display purposes.
It is rare to find a modern firearm (last 50 years or so) that has NO markings at all. It is possible that those markings may have been removed from a modern firearm. Without some additional information, such as the type of firearm, we do not have enough information to offer a real answer.
Under Federal law, a convicted felon may own an antique firearm, which includes percussion cap and flintlock muzzle loading rifles. Firearms that use a #209 primer (modern shotshell primer) are a problem, since a felon may not possess ammunition, and the 209 primer is considered ammunition.HOWEVER- state law may be more restrictive. For instance, Georgia state law will not permit a felon to own ANY firearm, including a muzzle loader. You need to check the law in YOUR state- and stick to traditional muzzleloaders if allowed.
Stock , Barrel & Action
I believe you are referring to "cartridge." The cartridge is the entire assembly of the bullet, primer, powder charge, and casing.
