Teach the patient to keep her or his skin dry and free of irritation and to use a clean towel and washcloth daily. Prescribed creams should apply after the symptoms disappear. Encourage the patient to use cold compress and or sits bath to relieve itching. Educate the patient with a vaginal infection to avoid contamination with feces from the GI tract by wiping from to back after defecation.

The cause of vaginal moniliasis is due to infection of yeast Candida Yeast infection occurs when the normal environment in the vagina changes. Sometimes the reason for this is unclear. Yeast infections can also occur with antibiotic use. A woman can develop a vaginal yeast infection if she has conditions that affect the immune system, such as diabetes, HIV infection, or lupus. If yeast infections occur repeatedly, it may be a good idea for her to get a test for HIV infection and one for diabetes (if available).
