One of the most confusing answers you may get, to understand, is they will say it is the engine coolant temp sensor. Which it is, and when you order online, if you try to search Transmission Fluid temp sensor, you will get wire connections, for a Saturn. I have a 1997 Saturn SL1.
What you order is an Engine coolant temp sensor. It can be used in two places, that I know so far. The side of the engine, to regulate when the engine fan comes on. And on the transmission oil pan, near the transmission filter. They are the same sensor part number, that can be used on those two spots.
