No, but it was very close. At the start of the Triassic, the infraclass Archosauromorpha started rapidly evolving to fill the niches left in the wake of the Permian Extinction. One group split into the crocodilians we all know and love, another became the dinosaurs. Postosuchus was a branch off of the first group, despite its similarities to the latter.
There is no evidence in the fossil record that suggest that Archosaur Postosuchus ever ate eggs. The preserved stomach contents of a specimen found in modern day North Carolina suggest it was purely a carnivore preferring live animals or perhaps carrion. They found parts from 2 synapsids (mammal like reptile) named Dicynodont and Plinthogomphodon and a giant primitive amphibian named Temnospondyli. The fossil was also found on top of another archosaur called Dromicosuchus. They found Postosuchus teeth marks on the head and neck of the Dromicosuchus
Prionosuchus was a 30 foot long amphibian. It lived in freshwater, and had a very similar appearance to today's gharials, which are long, narrow crocodilians with very narrow snouts. It probably filled a similar niche, hunting for fish and other aquatic animals.
There were a great many prehistoric animals that lived in Arizona. 10,000 years ago there were megafauna animals like camelops (a North American camel) that lived there. Much further back, about 225 million years ago, during the Triassic, there were early dinosaurs like Coelophysis, and prosauropods lived there, as well as erect, quadrepedal, carnivorous reptiles like Postosuchus. Pangaea existed from the Permian, about 299 million years ago, through the Triassic, and into the early Jurassic.There were very different animals in Pangaea during the Permian than there were in the Triassic because, at the end of the Permian, about 90% of species became extinct in the worst mass extinction in Earth's history.PermianInsects in Pangaea included beetles, dragonflies, and flies. Early in the Permian, large amphibians and pelycosaur reptiles, like the carnivorous, sail backed Demitrodon, or the herbivorous, sail backed Edaphosaurus. Later in the Permian the archosaurs evolved, which later gave rise to the dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and crocodillians. There were also therapsids, the reptillian ancestors of mammals. TriassicThe temnospndyli, which were large amphibians, and therapsids both survived the Permian extinction event. Archosaurs were the primary terrestrial vertebrates. There were herbivores such as Hyperodapedon, and carnivores like Postosuchus. The first dinosaurs were small meat eaters like Eoraptor, and small, long necked, herbivorous dinosaurs called prosauropods, evolved in Panagaea during the Triassic.
there were several groups of creatures on Pangaea. but for going the insects there where 4 major groups amphibians, anapsids diapsids and therapsids. the amphibians where remnants from the coniforus still large but not dominante on land anymore. anapsids accounted for a good chunk of life on land at this time. therapsids or so called mamal like reptials (eventualy evolved into mamals) where very common but the ones you know about are the diapsids. thees included crocidiles lizards and dinosaurs.
Plants in the Triassic included lycophotes, cycads, and ginkgophyta. The dominant trees in the northern hemisphere were conifers, while in the southern hemisphere the dominant trees were Glossopteris (a type of seed fern).
Some of the most famous fossils from Arizona are those of animals and plants that lived during the late Triassic (about 225 million years ago), whose fossils are preserved in the famous Petrified Forest National Park. These include: Metoposaurus (a 10 foot long, fish eating amphibian) Trilophosaurus (a 9 foot, herbivorous reptile, looking somewhat like a lizard) Desmatosuchus (a 16 foot long, herbivorous reptile with spikes protruding horizontally from its shoulders. Its fossils have been found in Texas, so I think it is reasonable to assume that they also lived in Arizona). Paleorhinus (a crocodile like reptile) Postosuchus (a 15 foot, armored, four legged carnivorous reptile) Rutiodon (a crocodile-like reptile) Stagonolepis (a 10 foot, herbivorous reptile that was armored) Hesperosuchus (a reptile, resembling a crocodile with erect limbs) Coelophysis (a small, carnivorous dinosaur) Herrerasaurus (a 10 to 20 foot carnivorous dinosaur) Panphagia (an omnivorous dinosaur, that was was related to the early sauropods) Placerias (a 10 foot, bulky, herbivorous reptile) Adelobasileus (possibly the common ancestor of all mammals; fossils found in Texas, so it is likely it also lived in Arizona) Also, there is the Kayenta Formation, which yields fossils from the early Jurassic, about 190 million years ago. These include: Prosalirus (an early frog) Kayentachelys (an early turtles) Dilophosaurus (a crested, 20 foot long carnivorous dinosaur) Kayentavenator (a small, carnivorous dinosaur) Massospondylus (a prosauropod, which were herbivorous dinosaurs that later evolved into the huge, long necked dinosaurs such as Apatosaurus) Megapnosaurus (a small, carnivorous dinosaur) Rhamphinion (a pterosaur, or flying reptile) Scelidosaurus (a lightly armored, herbivorous dinosaur that was 13 feet long) Scutosaurus (a small, two legged, herbivorous dinosaur that was lightly armored) Dinnebitodon (a small, herbivorous, mammal like reptile) Kayentatherium (a small mammal like reptile) Oligokyphus (a small, herbivorous, mammal like reptile) Of course, these are just a few examples. Many animals lived in Arizona that were not fossilized there, and may have only been fossilized somewhere else. For example, a huge variety of famous dinosaurs (such as Apatosaurus, Allosaurus, and Stegosaurus) lived in nearby areas, but their fossils have not been found in Arizona even though they probably lived there.
