well that depends... do you wear anything like a necklace that moves around in your pectoral area.. if so this could mean you are allergic to that type of metal (yes this happens) or maybe something else irritates that area, but for it to go away and come back it must be that, try keeping your shirt off and other things and just lie around for the day if it just appear and goes with nothing touching that area i suggest you see a doctor
I have same thing. I went to dermatologist today. I forget the name of the disease, but she said it is caused by sweating and that the dead skin does not break free or something----she gave me tetracycline and a fungal cream and a coritisone cream. She said it can be very stubborn so if in a month its not gone we go to step 2 which is accutane and photo treatments (light). I would highly suggest you see a doctor preferably a dermatologist because this is not going to go away, and will only get worse. Hope this helps.

Yes, it will grow back thicker and darker. But shaving your chest itches very badly.

yes..my girlfriend had a few grovers lesions on her chest the first time we did it face to face... that was 40 years ago..within a week I developed identical chest lesions, which have recurred and expanded their territory over the years... it itches severely at times, always retreating with steroid creams. meanwhile, hers have been mostly dormant little pox-like scars that rarely flare up. could there be a herpes-like viral etiology??
