A retrofit kit is just like a normal kit which has list of component's/ parts to assist the particular retrofit process.
Check with your parts store. Most carry at retofit kit.

R-12. Better off doing a retrofit kit than paying for R-12.
you can buy a kit at your local auto parts store for around $40.00, you have to vacuum pump out what R-12 that might be present. then follow the instructions in the kit.
