As of today, there is no information on possible genetic or other causes of homosexuality. Scientists have been studying DNA, hormones, and other potential causes, and some studies indicate causes, but there are no connections supported by enough data to be certain.
Homosexual behavior actually help to preserve a large range of species. This is because mothers will reject their child for multiple reasons, some being the youngest in a litter, to the death of the parents. Because 'gay' animal mates cannot procreate, there have been many cases of these animals taking care of the abandoned young. Homosexual behavior is normal for over 1,500 animal species, but not much investigation was done into finding such characteristics until the 1990s, most likely due to the taboo nature of homosexuality in modern day society. Over time, the number will most likely become even larger.
There is no actual scientific explanation for homosexuality. There just isn't a chemical reason or any other idea why. However, there are thoughts that there is a range of sexual behavior among humans that is normal.
