During short circuit the conductor carries very large current per unit area of the conductor. As the current is the flow of electrons so that the flow of electrons per unit area is more. Electrons traveles at lhe velocity of light (i.e.3*10^8 m/s).

This much velocity of electrons produces heat very much in that conductor.

This heat is very large and cannot controlled by wire insulator and the insulator is burned suddenly.AND Finally fire produces

Which of these is used in household wirings to prevent accidental fire in case of short circuit?

Fuses & circuit breakers.

How do fuses and circuit breakers protect you home against electrical fires?

It must understand that, short circuit is the case when the electricity find a lower resistance path to travel through. It will result to large amount of electricity flow and with high current flow then it emitted heat and would be so hot that it start the fire. Preventing short circuit damage, it install the fuse or circuit breaker as the bottle neck. When too much of the current flow through then the circuit breaker stop the flow of current and prevent fire.

Short circuits are dangerous because?

electricity always "wants" to take the easiest route, this is the route with the least resistance, this is why an insulator does not conduct electricity, it takes to much force for the electricity to travel through. a short circuit is when the easiest route is the wrong route i.e. the body of a lamp rather than the wiring of the lamp. the danger of a short circuit is dependent on the voltage and current of the electricity.

What are the benefits and dangers of electrical energy?

SHORT CIRCUIT AND OVERLOADElectricity energy is supplied into homes by pairs of insulated copper wires placed on walls and ceilings. Not much heat is produced in the wires because copper has low resistivity. However,if the current is very large, the wires may become hot enough to melt or burn the insulation and start a fire. This large current may be caused either by a short circuit or by overloading the circuit. 2. CIRCUIT PROTECTORThe panel board in your home where electrical energy is distributed through different circuits contains fuses or has a circuit breaker system. Each circuit branching out from the panel is connected in series to a fuse or circuit breaker.Fuse and circuit breaker are safety devices that brake the circuit whenever overload or short occurs by breaking the circuit of fire are prevented.

Why do fuses break the current in a circuit?

The reason for a fuse to break the current within a circuit is to protect the circuit itself and prevent fire. When an excess of electricity (or, too much electricity for the circuit to safely handle) attempts to pass through the fuse, a physical break within the connections of the fuse occurs. By breaking the connection, the excessive electricity is stopped, and prevented from causing possible overheating within the circuit, which could result in fire and permanent damage to the circuit.

What causes a short circuits?

-circuit damage -overheating -fire or explosion causes a short circuit.

How does a circuit happen?

When the cables of the electrical appliances are worn out or it's not connected properly,a short circuit may occure.A short circuit has a very low resistance that almost all electric current flow through it.It'll affect the operation of the electrical appliances.Owing to the heating effect, the excess electric current would produce a large amount of heat, wihout a fuse or a circuit breaker,a fire may be occured when there's a short circuit.

Why are damaged electrical cords dangerous?

because it can can cause fire or electrical shock.

Why does my house breaker turn off everytime you turn on the light?

Either you have a short or your circuit is severly overloaded. Either way call an electrician. It sounds like you have a fire hazard.

What is an easier path for electron flow that can cause shocks or an electric fire?

A Short Circuit

What is An example of a short circuit?

A short circuit is one that is characterized by extremely low resistance. This will result in the extremely dramatic increase of current. High current will flow until a safety device opens the circuit, or the weakest link in it burns out. And one of the two usually occurs in a moment or two.==Short Circuit happens when the cables of the electrical appliances are worn out or it's not connected properly,a short circuit may occure.A short circuit has a very low resistance that almost all electric current flow through it.It'll affect the operation of the electrical appliances.Owing to the heating effect, the excess electric current would produce a large amount of heat, wihout a fuse or a circuit breaker,a fire may be occured when there's a short circuit.

How do you make a short circuit?
