Does a duo-servo brake drum have a horseshoe-like return spring?

It depends on where the shoe anchor pin and the threaded star adjustment rod is located. If the shoe anchor is located at the top of the backing plate with the adjustment rod at the bottom between the two shoes than it is duo-servo. If the adjustment rod is located at the top between the two shoes and the anchor pin is at the bottom of the backing plate then it is a leading/trailing type drum brake system.

How do you remove a 2001 Saturn LS-200 rear brake drum?

Removing a brake drum can be a bit tricky. There should be a few rubber plugs on the Anchor side of the brake drum. You can gain access to the anchor side from underneath the car. Remove the rubber plug. Look inside this small hole with a flashlight. You should see a star-wheel like object, and a small lever that touches it. With the appropriate tools, a rear brake spoon and a small screwdriver, or a medium sized screwdriver and a small one, back the star-wheel off to release the tension of the rear shoes, on the rear drum. Then, you will have to hit the rear drum with a hammer to knock it loose. PLEASE BE SURE TO HAVE THE CAR WELL SECURED ON PROPER JACK STANDS BECAUSE SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO HIT IT PRETTY HARD IN A FEW SPOTS AND IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS.
