are you trying to change the entire headlight assembly? or just the bulb.

No, the only thing it could possibly do is blow the bulb.
There are bolts surrounding the headlamp. remove these and the wires.

Remove the headlight by taking out the three 10mm bolts on top and unscrew the bulb from the backside.
If it's the same as a 96 Pontiac Grand AM GT, than you would need a 10mm socket and rachet there are three bolts on top of headlight remove these and just pull out headlight. Disconnect the wire going to the bulb you want to replace.
Open the hood and there are screws on both sides loosen then move flaps and pull light backwards until you can get to the bulb.
