I've been a lacto-vegetarian for several years, so surely I'm qualified to answer this question. Vegetarian food is completely free of all meat, fish, poultry, and other animal products. This includes chicken broth and foods cooked with meat. Ovo-vegetarians allow eggs in their diet but no dairy products, while lacto-vegetarians allow dairy products, but no eggs. Lacto-ovo-vegetarians allow dairy and eggs. Many vegetarians also do not include gelatin in their diets, as it is frequently of animal origin. You do not eat any type of meat. I eat alot of salad
A vegetarian diet would consist of non meat foods. Some vegetarians consume dairy products while others do not. There are numerous websites one can look at to obtain suitable recipes.
Lacto vegetarians eat dairy products. I have seen some lacto vegetarians binge on ice cream! (not recommended)
