a vented battery is vented and the regular battery is regular
In the battery is located in the cabin or in the trunk it must be vented. If it is located under the hood is does not have to be vented.

UNder the back seat, push seat bench back toward rear of car and pull up. Replace only with a vented battery. Dont cheap out on a non-vented one.

It is a special Cadillac battery, that has a higher voltage than most cars (14-15 volts). The venting helps to keep it from building up pressure and exploding.

If you are referring to a Deville, you need a specialized vented battery. That I believe is 14-15 volts. Dont use anything other than this specific battery. I have seen damaged caddys because of it.
