A "wage order" is an order from the Bankruptcy Court ordering the debtor's employer to pay the Chapter 13 Plan payment directly from the debtor's wages to the Bankruptcy Trustee. It is basically a garnishment to ensure that the Chapter 13 Plan payment gets paid. A lapel pin is a pin that is worn on the lapel of a jacket, usually a dress jacket such as a sport coat. The lapel is the part of the coat that is folded back from the edges of the coat in front. Often lapel pins feature graphical or textual content such as political slogans or emblems, symbols of various organizations or affiliations, or badges of achievement.

Lapel Pin Design

Lapel pins are designed graphically as a kind of blueprint before they are placed on the pin itself. They are drawn either digitally or by hand with a light box in order to get the right design. They are then stamped or printed onto metal of various alloys with modern industrial imprinting processes.

The following are some modern lapel manufacturing processes:

Cloisonne

In this process, a sheet of copper is stamped in such a way as to leave some areas lower or recessed. These are then filled with enamel powder. The enamel is heated to high temperatures to make it smooth and solid, creating the design pattern. It is then sanded down to smoothness and copper plating is added to make the metallic areas more shiny and attractive.

Photo Etching

The overall shape of the pin (i.e. circular, etc.) is stamped out, and then through a chemical imprinting process, the design or photograph is imprinted on the surface without any further stamping. It may then be covered with a coat of clear epoxy.

Screen Printing

Blocks of solid color are applied to the stamped out pin shape (as in photo etching) using a silk screen process.A thin epoxy coat is also applied to protect the color.

Soft Enamel

In this production style, the color areas placed on the stamped out piece first and then metal strips are overlaid onto the color layer, separating it according to the design. It is then covered with protective epoxy for a smooth finish.

Lapel pins are an attractive means of displaying messages, showing organizational membership, proclaiming ideological affiliations, and so on. They are worn for reasons that are informational as well as ornamental. Well produced pins last a long time and after their “heyday” are often gathered as collectibles.
