Basically it is the narrowing of the spinal column due to a form of spinal injury or disease. It is common in elderly people, but can occur at any time in a person's life, especially if they have had a spinal injury. EMG is just a general term for Electromyography used to study the disease, I may be wrong so I apologize if that's the case. Mylopathy is the major problem. It can cause imbalnce problems, loss of motor skills, and in severe forms cause the patient to become bedridden or wheelchair bound. However, if caught early the chance for treatment is higher. This also depends on the person, some people have minor problems or progress slowly, while other have major problems or progress very quickly.
