Actual size replicas showing the word COPY on the back are available on eBay for $12.95. Larger size replicas made of silver are also easily found on the internet.
Any replica without the word copy is illegal to buy or sell, therefore, has no value. The same is true of altered date coins, which were genuine Liberty nickels of other dates, such as 1900, 1903, or 1910, that had the date tooled so that it would appear as 1913. All of these latter items are considered counterfeit coins and fall under the jurisdiction of the Secret Service. While they are technically not illegal to own, anyone who is caught buying or selling such items runs the risk of prison time.
