Fibrinogen alpha chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the FGA gene.
alpha
In organic chemistry, an alpha carbon is the first carbon atom of an aliphatic chain which is attached to a functional group.
Because beta is mo beta than alpha, you feel me?
Hb Barts is associated with one of the alpha-Thalassemias, namely homozygous alpha^0. The absence of all four alpha globin genes results in the alpha globin chain not being produced. The only types of haemoglobin that can be produced are Gower 1 (zeta2eta2) and Portland (zeta2gamma2) which are both embryonic haemoglobins. At around 6wks the alpha globin production is ~50% of the total. In the absence of globin chains the fetal haemoglobin (alpha2gamma2) cannot be produced so the gamma globulin chain precipitate out in the red blood cells as tetramers (gamma4). These tetramers are referred to as Hb Bart.

alpha
The coiling of the protein chain backbone into an alpha helix is referred to as the secondary structure. It is composed of several polypeptide chains.
An alpha predator is a predator that has virtually no predators of their own; they are at the top of the food chain. An example would be an eagle.

Alpha amylase is an enzyme that breaks down long chain carbohydrates in the starch chain during digestion. Technically speaking, it hydrolyses alpha-bonds of large alpha-linked polysaccharides like starch and glycogen, producing glucose and maltose. It is most present in the saliva, where digestion actually begins, and pancreatic juice.

He is famous because of his research of Alpha Helix protein structure. It is spiral chain of amino acids stabilized by hydrogen bonds.http://www.answers.com/topic/alpha-helix
A primate is an animal who is particulary very high in the food chain. Also know as the alpha.
The coiling of the protein chain background into an alpha helix is the secondary structure. This is caused by the H-bonded arrangement of the backbone of th protein.
