- Well, so far there are two types of cloning. One is embryo splitting which involves removing the genetic material of a fertilized egg (zygote) with the genetie material of a different life form, the you implant it into a female mammal.The second way is called Nuclear transfer technology this involves removing DNA from an unfertilized egg (oocyte) and then you inject the nucleus that contains DNA to be cloned. Rarely the newly developed cell will divide properly, replicating the DNA; at this point it is still in a 'pluripotent' (stem cell) state, if the cells are then placed into a uterus of a mammal, rarely the organism develops.
