The amount of trust points is how many users have reccommended you. The quickest way to gain trust points is by answering many questions. This way, your name is on every question, and they can easily click the 'reccommend this contributor' button.

You can give a trust point on a question page by clicking 'recommend contributor' beside their username and current number of trust points. As well, you can give trust points on a user's bio page on the right side of the screen, under 'message user'. The best way to receive more trust points is by writing many quality answers.

There is no way to get 5 trust points for every answer or edit. You just have to contribute very well, and hope someone recognizes you. You also want to contribute a lot so your credit shows up for virtually every answer, which is also another way to get a lot of trust points (just make sure they are good contributions).
