The 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix cooling fan sensor is located on the front of the engine. The fan sensor can be found just above the thermostat.
The coolant temp sensor is located next to the thermostat housing. The radiator fan relay is located under the aircleaner box, bolted to the "frame rail".

It has a coolant temperature sensor next to the thermostat housing. Follow the upper radiator hose to where it meets the engine and you'll see it behind the distributor cap
Right under the thermostat its had to see because exhaust crossover needs to move to loosen it up. You can also remove the upper motor mount bracket to access the sensor using a wrench to remove sensor.
you should have your cooling fan checked or temp sensor or relay or check your coolant it might be low or thermostat might be no good it should be one of these
It's under the air intake on the thermostat bellhousing.
A bad thermostat can cause an overheat. A bad temp sensor can show an overheat when the temperature is normal.

The cooling fans on a 2002 Grand Am GT might not be working because of a problem with a fuse. There is also a temperature sensor in the engine that tells the fans when to come on. This sensor may be bad.
