For Example: If you are testing the amount of plant growth with three plants, one getting no fertilizer, one getting a little bit, and one getting allot, the plant getting no fertilizer would be the Control Group. So, The plants getting a little bit and the one getting allot would be the Experimental Groups.

What is an experimental control?

A group of experimental subjects that is not exposed to a chemical or treatment being investigated so that it can be compared with experimental groups that are exposed to the chemical or treatment. cw: An experimental control may be the control group. In general, the experimental control is something that allows you to say that the treatment effects on the experimental group are due to the treatments, rather than anything else.

What is a experimental group?

In a scientific experiment it is common to split your sample into (at least) two groups. Say you were to study the effect of a new drug on a specific condition, you would have a sample (a group of people with the condition in question e.g. breast cancer), and you would treat all members of the sample the same, with the exception that one group is give the actual drug, and the other group is given a "fake" pill. This fake pill is also called a placebo. The group that is given the real drug is called the experimental group, and the group that is give the placebo is called the control group. This setup attempts to ensure that any effect that is observed is caused by the drug (the experimental condition).

Example of control group?

The control group is the one that is not manipulated in any way. Suppose we are testing the effect of studying on test scores. The group that did not study would be the control group. The group that did study would be the experimental group.

An investigation in which a group that receives some experimental treatment is compared to a group that does not receive the experimental treatment is called?

The group which does not receive experimental treatment is the control group, the group which does receive the treatment is the experimental group.

What does control mean in the meaning of science?

When doing experiments you have to have a control group and an experimental group. The control group is not given a drug (for example), while the experimental group is. This will show (later on) if the drug had a real effect. Sometimes the control group will be given what is called a placebo. This looks just like the drug that the experimental group is given, except it has nothing in it.

What is an experimental group?

An experimental group is the group that gets changed. For example if there was a disease and there were 2 different products to cure it, the group, let's say group A, with the product that works, would be the experimental group. This is because it is the group with the product that has been changed for the experiment. The other group, group B, would be the control group because it has the product that stays the same as if nothing ever changed, because that product doesn't work.

What is the name for an experiment in which a control group is compared with an experimental group?

The control group.

In a controlled experiment what is the experimental group compared to?

The control group.

What is the difference between a control group and an experimental group?

Control groups do not test the variable or action. They are a constant comparative base. The experimental group has one different variable. They two are compared to see what affect (if any) the variable has. The control group is not exposed or subjected to what they're testing. The experimental group is. For example, a control group and an experimental group may each consume the same foods, on the same schedule. The experimental group would also receive a nutritional supplement, to see if it had any beneficial effect. This would ideally be the only major difference in the two groups.

Is an investigation in which a group that receives some experimental treatment is compared to a group that does not receive the experimental treatment.?

An investigation in which a group that receives some experimental treatment is compared to a group that does not receive the experimental treatment can be called a placebo-controlled study or a comparative experiment, both of which are types of clinical studies. The group receiving the experimental treatment is called the treatment group, and the group that is not receiving the experimental treatment is called the control group.

What conditions must be met if you want to have a scientifically valid sample for a study?

You must have a control group, an experimental group, an experimental variable (also called the independent variable), and a response to be measured (also called the dependent variable). The experimental variable is applied only to the experimental group, so that any difference between the control group and experimental group is due only to the experimental variable. Both the control group and experimental group must have the same conditions, except for the experimental variable.

What is the difference of control group and the experimental group?

Experimental group has been exposed to the independent variable whereas the control group has not, and is often used to compare the experimental group's results against.
