Most technicians refer to the idler pully for the timing belt as just idler.

If it has an idler control valve, and most do, I'd go with that.
You do not There is an idler that auto tightens the belt to the correct tightness. If the spring is busted replace this.

There is no part called an idler sensor.
It is a project that requires either a Shop manual or service CD or expert advice or someone who has done it before. On my 1995 Del Sol I had to dismantle many things to be able to replace the timing belt. But, it was either this or $800 at the Honda dealer. It is such a job that I followed advice and replaced the water pump, idler pulley, A/C idler, and other belts. All of the belts, plus gaskets, came to around $135-$150.
Remove the nut holding the idler arm to the center link. Separate the joint with a "pickle fork". Remove the two bolts and nuts from the frame end of the idler arm. Remove idler arm.
