I am daring to answer even though I am not an MD. '-scopy' implies a medical procedure and an instrument to perform it, as in colonoscopy or laryngoscopy, a visual examination of the colon or the larynx respectively. Otorhinolaryngo- is the beginning of a medical specialty sometimes commonly referred to as 'ear nose and throat'. There is no single procedure or instrument (-scopy) that would be used for a visual examination of the ears, nose and throat at the same time. That would be a very odd piece of equipment.
Ear, nose and throat disorders are so common that almost everyone can become a victim at some point of time or other. A random survey in rural India conducted by National Center for Biotechnology Information (NSBI) revealed that about 37% patients had ear problems, 24% had nasal issues and 17% were suffering from throat disorders. It is understandable because of the lack of health awareness in rural areas, and lower socio-economic level are one of the causes there. But the urban population also suffer from significant risk of getting ear, nose and throat disorders mainly due to high level of pollution and unhealthy lifestyle.
Ear, nose and throat related disorders are quite painful, and the patients may need medical intervention to get relief. According to ENT ailment researchers, there are ways to prevent the diseases, though it is not always possible as in the case of congenital (abnormality present from birth) conditions.
In most of the cases, the patients suffer from the ear, nose and throat disorders due to infection. In any case, prevention is better than cure. There are some things you can do to prevent ear, nose and throat disorders. In general, maintaining good personal hygiene and health can avoid any infection. For example, washing hands with soap frequently and not touching the mouth, nose, or ear can not only prevent ENT infections but a lot of other virus or bacteria borne diseases. Little children, particularly those going to elementary schools, find it challenging to learn acceptable hygiene practices. So, they are more prone to the conditions of ear, nose and throat.

This type of ear infection is called otitis media. It usually requires antibiotic treatment in order for resolution to occur. However, with recurrent infections, especially in young children, tubes sometimes need to be placed through the eardrum in order to drain the excess fluid. This surgical procedure, performed by an ENT surgeeon (Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon, or otorhinolaryngologist) is termed a myringotomy with tubes surgery.
I am having problems myself. I did show my ear to otorhinolaryngologist, who examined my ear and said that there was very minimal wax, which did not require syringing it out. At time I was not experiencing ear ache and I was only too happy to know that it was of no serious concern. However, I now have the same feeling of fullness in the ear and some vague pain in my left ear. Please advice.
