The Lexus CT 200h Hybrid F Sport electric vehicle is a fun, sporty ride and considered the most youthful of the Lexus fleet. Whether you're a teenager driving around with your friends or commuting to work, this cost effective, eco-friendly hybrid will get you where you need to go.
Cost Effective and Eco Friendly
Lexus CT 200h F Sport retailed a bit over $30,000 which is the most inexpensive of the brand. It is a cost effective luxury hybrid electric hatchback. In fact, it's the only hybrid hatchback on the market which was a pleasant site since diversity of product lines for hybrid electric cars is great. When tested, this hatchback hybrid EV F Sport got an average of 45 miles per gallon with highs in the 50's at certain times throughout the test. The EPA rating is actually 42 mpg but with the test able to get a little more than the EPA rating the car seems more cost effective than the sticker would make you think.
Sporty and Eco
The suspension in the F Sport is more sturdy than expected for this car. As well, the CT 200h used a leather type material (in the F Sport version tested) that is known to be less toxic. Specifically, less toxic is not just air pollution but it also means less chemicals or fuels to transport and produce. It has a metallic feel throughout the interior that includes the stick, accelerator, brake pedal, and the foot rest on the left hand side of the floor underneath the driver's seat. The door handle bars are also a metallic look. The car has a mesh grille to start as well.
Small and Fast
While this is the smallest of the Lexus brand, it doesn't lack in torque. There is a dial that allows the car to go from Eco to a Sport Plus Mode, turning the hybrid into a Sportscar. It's an Eco friendly car all around from the interior to the fuel economy and will surprise and deliver on the Lexus brand. The car was also able to glide more than most hybrids on the market; which enables the vehicle to travel longer distances with your foot off the pedal.
Possible Negatives
When tested, drivers banged their head several times while getting into the drivers seat, making the car seem too low to the ground.
Also, while it was an efficient ride, it could be more efficient than 45 mpg with 50 mpg as the best. Other brands have a better MPG rating than this hybrid electric car using diesel or purely a hybrid. Now with plugin hybrid electric cars, the market competition for hybrids gets more intense.
As shown, the Lexus CT 200h F Sport is efficient and has been selling. Although the car is not as publicized versus other hybrids in the fleet, its numbers are starting to increase on streets more than anticipated. The real reason for its appeal has to do with a young look that's more classy than a Scion or Toyota. Rest assured, this efficient hybrid will be around for a while since it is the least expensive, good looking hybrid of the Lexus fleet.
They do make some sport models of cars that are hybrid. Lexus just came out with a new sport hatchback car that is hybrid, and starts at around $24,000.
