Prickly Pear... latin genus Opuntia sp. unknown. A wickedly invading Cactus bought to Australia's shores among the first fleets from Europe in 1788 for the Cochineal Beetle to feed on, which produced workable Red Dye. The weed spread at a rate of 1million acres per year until a biological control was put in place some 120 years after white man settlement.
