The primary tools used in early astronomy were a compass to measure directions, a sextant (or octant) to measure angles in the sky, a watch and a telescope.
It's the amount of money invested in ... whatever. Telescopes, land, equipment, that kind of stuff. You know, "capital equipment." That's the only sense in which I can make "astronomy capital" make any sense whatsoever.

poo is a valuable resourcse
There are very few "controlled experiments" that can be done in astronomy, and these are VERY expensive; like, in the BILLIONS of dollars. The Mars rovers, for example, or the NEAT probe, or the Deep Impact probe. The problem is that in order to do astronomy experiments, you have to put your astronomical equipment in space. Dr. Tony Phillips of spaceweather.com, and a team of high school students, do manage - by launching their equipment via high altitude balloons.
An observatory is the name of a place that uses telescopes and other scientific equipment to study space and astronomy. The Mount Polamar Observitory in the west of the US is an iconic example. Today, Earth based observitories are supplimented by space telescopes.
An observatory, generally in conjunction with a university.
Far infrared Astronomy is the branch of astronomy and astrophysics which deals with objects visible in far-infrared radiation. The cold telescope allows the equipment to work properly
In astronomy there is a wide range of equipment that can be used. Some of them are telescopes, binoculars and laser pointers. Equipments also need not be necessarily used. Being an astronomer myself, naked eye observation is my favourite type of observation. Equipments are mainly used to ether view the skies above closer such as in a telescope or to detect something that cannot be seen in the naked eye or a telescope such as in radio astronomy equipment.

Urania one of the nine muses she was attending the Astronomy, Astrology and the Holy Spirit. She was very pleased with philosophers and those who were dealing with heavens.
