When you play a high D on my alto sax why is it super high pitched?

If you're referring to the high D that you play with the palm key then that's just how the note sounds. The high D in my opinion is a very annoying note. You generally won't play it. I don't think I've ever had to play a high D in any of my songs. If you think it sounds wrong then you may check your fingerings or have another alto play it with you and see if the pitches are generally together. It won't be perfect because it is so high that it's almost impossible to get in tune.
