A toy poodle is a recognized breed of poodle and is the smallest sized poodle you can obtain that is recognized by the countries associated kennel clubs and according to show standards if you are planning on showing your poodle.

the 'Toy' category has no lower limit; tiny toy is still a toy.

Personally I don't think their is much difference in which poodle is better for you - it really depends on your own preference. As a lot of tiny toy and teacup poodles parents are runts of the litter size wise, it is always best to have both parents hip and eye tested before purchasing from the litter and also get written confirmation from the breeder that you can return the puppy within 14 days if a health problem is detected by your Vet.

This question is like asking if you should have a friend that is 5'4" or 5', one might be slightly easier to carry but that is probably the extent of the differences.

And remember, all pure bred dogs have the potential to be genetic messes, the more extreme the dog's look the more likely it is to have health problems.

In terms of size, a Miniature Poodle is larger than a Toy Poodle. Miniature Poodles typically stand between 10 to 15 inches tall at the shoulder, while Toy Poodles are generally shorter, standing around 9 to 10 inches tall. Breed n Breeder can provide more information on the size and characteristics of Miniature and Toy Poodles.

Officially, there is no such thing as a "toy" schnauzer. There are three breeds of schnauzer: miniature, standard, and giant. However, due to the initial development of the miniature schnauzer in the early 1900's, a gene pool for smaller versions of the miniature schnauzer was created. Some breeders in the USA and Canada are now breeding these smaller "toy-size" versions of the miniature schnauzer in an effort to create an official toy schnauzer breed. Toy schnauzers are registered as miniature schnauzers. While there is no official breed standard for a toy schnauzer, general guidelines are that the dog be 7-10 lbs and 9-11 inches at the shoulder. Toy schnauzers also have the added benefit of coming in a variety of non-recognized colors: parti, liver, and liver/tan. A well bred toy schnauzer should resemble a miniature schnauzer in every way except size and color.

I have a toy poodle myself and I was wondering the same thing. I did a little research and found that if your poodle has curly hair and when you brush it goes stright back to serious curls that is the first sign. Also poodles have a very defined face long snouts, skull is bigger then their neck in a kind of round looking way. They way they lay on the floor or ground can tell too, if your poodle sometimes lays with both lags spread apart on the floor (and they are laying on their bellies) that is another sign. hope this helps.-Fellow purebred poodle owner.

P.S.-If you want, test out your poodle on someone who has some dog Allergies, poodles are "Hypoallergenic" (Which means they are free of dander tht causes the reaction to the allgergies) so if the person has a reaction, your poodle is most likely a cross-breed.

Toys are smaller.

Teacup poodles are the smallest of the poodles, then toys, then miniatures, then standard, which are absolutely huge.

toy poodles tend to have a nastier temper and some do not like kids. miniatures however are much gentler, they have a better body shape and are smarter.

What is the difference between toy and miniature poodles?

The most notable difference between toy and miniature poodles is their size. There are three separate registered types of poodles recognized by kennel clubs: standard, miniature and toy. Toy poodles are the smallest of the poodles, and Miniature is one size up. Additionally, most poodle breeders break the "toy" category into three separate subcategories: teacup, tiny-toy and toy. Although these categories aren't kennel-club recognized, breeders use them to differentiate between the size of their dogs. Although the specific numbers vary from breeder to breeder, this is a good rule for adult dogs: Standard: 18 + lbs. Miniature: 12 - 18 lbs. Toy: 6 - 12 lbs., shorter than 10 inches Tiny Toy: 4 - 6 lbs. Teacup: <4 lbs.

What if your toy schnauzer weighs 8 pounds at 4 months how much bigger will he get?

There really isn't such thing as a "toy" schnauzer. They are just really small miniature Schnauzers. If they are 6 months old and weighs 6 pounds, she will gain weight. The only thing that will stop growing is her height. She should stop growing height wise around 1 year of age. She will always gain or lose weight. By full grown, she should weigh at least 10 pounds.

How much does a giant schnauzer cost?

Sorry, there is no such thing as a toy Schnauzer, unless you're looking at a plush toy. Schnauzers come in three sizes - Miniature, Standard, and Giant. Toyish characteristics - round head, short muzzle, bug eyes - are extreme faults in Schnauzers and no one respecting the quality and history of the Schnauzer would breed for them.

How big is Miniature Schnauzer?

They are about 8-13 inches in height and 10-16 pounds, unless under or over weight This is an incorrect answer. According to the breed standard, Miniature Schnauzers are 12 - 14 inches, anything under or over are faults. There is no such thing as a "toy" Schnauzer.
