The bootmgr (boot manager) allows the computer to load the operating system off the hard drive. The way it is fixed depends upon which operating system you are using. Please select yours below. If you are not sure please seek professional computer help.
1) Windows/DOS (any version)
Boot the system off the original installation CD and perform a Fix Install Recovery
2) Linux (any version, not including FreeBSD)
Boot the system off the Operating System CD (must match the exact type) and follow the recovery prompts. If this is your selection you should know where to get the correct disk.
3) Apple (Old pre MacOS X)
Boot the system off the original installation CD and drag the system folder on the hard drive to another spot (do not delete it). Then just reinstall the OS, reboot, then inside your saved system folder drag out any item you will need for the fixed system.
4) Apple (MacOS X - any version)
Boot the system off the original installation CD and perform a installation recovery.
If, in any of the above cases, you do not have the original installation CD please stop and seek professional assistance because you run the risk of losing data if the procedure isn't followed properly.
