Dealers will adjust the brake stoplamp switch free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on or before July 6, 2009.

I just installed a brake controller on my 2009 Ranger several months ago. The wire you want to connect to on the brake light switch is the purple wire with the white stripe. This is one of two heavier gauge wires that are on the switch as well as some other lighter gauge wires. The other heavy gauge wire from the readings I got with my volt meter appears to be the power source. I must have got it right because everything has been working fine with the brake controller.
