your axle is coming off
sounds more like a CV joint because of the popping, although wheel bearings do make noises like that when they are worn.
If it is a front wheel drive sometimes a bad cv joint can cause a popping sound when you are turning.
could be a tie rod
popping sound will be caused by either bad wheel bearings or worn tie rod ends
A front popping on the left of a 98 Blazer could be the brakes, steering, or wheel bearing. Check all three to find the cause.
Grinding noises, wandering steering, strange tire wear.
Anti lock system maybe If this is a front wheel drive vehicle you may have a cracked axle,,,,,causing the popping noise when turned and under hard braking.
The popping sound could be a couple of things first off is your wheel tight? check lug nuts. Some of other causes may be damaged rotors and pads. check them by removing wheel and looking for damaged parts or worn out pads. other things could be front wheel dive axle CV joint but you would hear this when turning also.
Check for: worn/seized front end parts & possible driveshaft issues
There are several things that could be causing this noise to come from your front wheel well. You could have a faulty wheel bearing, a brake could be dragging, or a hub is rubbing.
your wheel balance or wheel alignment need adjusting
You might hear loud squeaking noises. jack up the front end and try to wiggle the wheel. if it wiggles then it could be the bearing. You could be hearing a grinding noise also.
