IAC Idle air control sensor. The cylinder shaped sensor on the throttle body
If by lock up you mean squeal when cornering, such as in a parking lot, this is because the grand Cherokee (4x4) is commonly an all-time 4-wheel drive. You can determine this by looking at the 4X4 shifter and it should say quadra-trac. When cornering, the wheels spin at different speeds which causes the computer to think it's losing traction, then engages 4X4 and locks up the front end. Thus, causing it to "bark" or "squeal". Hope this helps, -Dayne
It could be the alternator.
At moderate speeds, yes. For higher speeds or tight cornering, you might be causing a problem.

i have a dodge magnum o5 and when i put fuel in the car and take off from the gas station and stop at a light the engine shut off what is causing this problem
The ac could be causing the problem. Turn the ac off, and watch the compressor clutch to see if it is not engaged. If it is then the compressor or clutch could be bogging the engine down.
The universal joints in the front driveshaft may be going bad.
your catalytic converter is probably stopped up
I'm not a mechanic but I had a problem with my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee lift gate not closing properly, seemed to move to the sound causing a noise. I replaced the lift shocks and the problem disapeared
i'll give you several answers . you could have water in your gas, you may need to replace your air filter, fuel filter, you may have a bad spark plug or spark plug wires, your timing could be off. i I have a 1998 Taurus and I had a stalling problem - took to shop and for about $27 he changed my hoses that was my problem, hole in hose and cracks from age of hoses.
Low coolant, failed waterpump, stuck thermostat, missing belt, inoperative fan, plugged radiator.
