Worst case scenario: you have bad piston rings. In the first 10 seconds, your car is pushing oil into the cylinders. Then it burns (white smoke). When the car warms up, the rings seal better and the smoke dissapears. Borrow a compression tester from Autozone (free), pull the spark plugs, and check your compression. After you test each cylinder, put a little oil in the hole, and do the test again. If putting oil in the cylinder drastically increases your compression, you have bad piston rings.

You could also have faulty smog equipment that sends oil into the intake sometimes, and it burns through. Check the pcv valve.

Q: What is causing your 1993 probe 2lt to burn oil sometimes from a cold start but only about 10 seconds after the engine has been running ie the smoke is not immediate and it only does it sometimes?
