because the battery is the source of the power for the headlights. there could be an issue with the battery or the alternator can be failing.
run it and then disconnect the negative wire from the battery if alternator dies its bad.
disconnect the battery. Remove the alternator belt then disconnect the wires. Unbolt the alternator and remove. Bolt the new alternator in then connect the wires, belt, and battery.
Disconnect the 1988 Century battery. Remove the alternator battery. Disconnect the alternator wiring, then unbolt the alternator. Bolt in the new alternator, then reverse the procedure to finish the installation.
Your battery is weak, or your your alternator is not charging battery.

Disconnect battery. Disconnect wires from alternator. Loosen bolts and remove belt. Remove bolts holing alternator in place.
Disconnect the battery negative. Loosen the belt and remove it from the alternator pulley. Disconnect all wires from the alternator. Unbolt the alternator from the bracket. Remove the alternator.
battery light flashing means the battery is not charging,check alternator fuel light flashing means very low or almost out of fuel.
Disconnect the battery and just remove the bolts holding the alternator, disconnect the wire connection and remove the alternator.
Disconnect the battery. Remove the alternator belt. Disconnect the wiring on the alternator, then unbolt and remove the unit. Bolt the new alternator in place and connect the wiring. Install the belt and connect the battery back up.
