Colic sickness for horses and ponies is a sickness which can be cured by immediate action of a vet. Basically colic is a twisted gut, the horse/ponies' guts starts to twist and it hurts them so they want to lie down. The more the guts get twisted the more it damages the horses interior, if left untreated the horse will eventually die in the next 3-4hrs.
Do not let them lie down it will hurt them more, you have to keep them walking calmly round in circles and talk to them until the vet arrives, be sure to call the vet IMMEDIATELY after you notice the colic.
Symptoms of colic can be :
colic is a serious condition for horses. it is very painful and can even kill them. colic is mostly caused by man management. (humans doing) a lot of things can cause colic such as riding before an hour after a horse has fed and lots more...
it will cause a horse to roll a lot and lie down much more than often. this is bad as it could lead to the horse to having a twisted stomach and the results could lead to death.
Colic and accidental and intentional poisoning and infection.
horses shouldn't eat or drink after exersising. this could cause a fatal stomach sickness called Colic.
A herd of horses can get colic if turned out on a grass/ pasture mix if they are not gradually accustomed to the dietary change. There are some grasses and clover that can be toxic to horses (alsike clover is one).
No. Ponies and horses should not eat peanuts. Their stomachs do not digest them well. They can develop impaction colic.
ponies
They are ponies!
they are horses but most people think they are ponies
Ethiopia has a mixture of horses, the most common ponies are Abyssinian ponies. I am not sure about Horses, but Ponies I am :D
I think you mean Colic. Colic is pretty much a stomach ache for horses. But it could be life threatening if left untreated. Horses can't vomit so they get colic.
Any horse of any age can colic!
Horses are unable to throw up. So, not that type of morning sickness. They can colic though, so just be sure they don't do that. If they do colic, keep them moving. Get some friends over & take shifts walking your house & give him plent of food/water. DON'T LET HIM LAY OR SIT. Take him to a vet if it doesn't improve by the next day. Signs of colicing is not eating or drinking, laying. Keep an eye on your house. If you ride them too much, they can colic, as well as if they get over-heated. Colicing is like a stomach ache & since horses can't throw up, it can become very serious.
The horses and ponies are mostly welsh cobs and welsh ponies.
