Continental "drift" is the movement of the continents (as in North America, Australia, Eurasia, ect.) across the Earth's surface. The movement of these continents, also known as tectonic plates, usually create earthquakes and tsunamis when they collide and/or grind against each other, which lead to the theory that the world will end on 2012 because of a huge earthquake and tsunami bombardment that would lead to the bottom of Africa ending up where Greenland is currently, as proclaimed in the movie "2012".
