I think you mean ectotherms (also sometimes called exotherms), which are animals such as reptiles, which are able to produce internal heat at a relatively low rate. As such, they need to be warmed by their environment in order to be able to move about - that's why reptiles are commoner in tropical environments and why snakes and lizards can be seen basking on rocks, soaking up the sun's warmth.
The opposite - endotherms - are animals such as mammals that can produce enough internal heat to be able to operate in cold conditions (to a certain degree) without having to collect heat from an outside source.
