Emissons problem

Why does the muffler on your 1999 Ford Taurus drip water every time you start it until it gets hot?

most likely it is a result of the emissons system. As the cat converter removed the harmful emissons, a few of the chemicls left are hydrogen and oxygen, mix these two and you get water.

Where can you find a vacuum diagram for a 91 Chevy 305?

VACCUM ROUTINGIf you are looking for the vaccum routing or evap routing, have been able to go into a Chevy garage and ask for a vaccum or emissons book, or go into the mitchels or motor manuals book. The throttle body for the cars and the trucks are different, do not know which one you want. GNXMAN

Why do you have computer regulations?

Computers are design to receive signals from the various sensors, which allows it to control the exact amount of fuel at the injectors cutting the use of access fuel, which along with other components cut the amount of access exhault fumes leaving the vehicle. Any tampering with this unit, or any other part of the emissons system will alter this delicate balance and is therefore prohibited by federal and state laws.

What is the spark plug gap for a 2004 Ford Explorer 4.0 v 6?

On my 2004 Ford Explorer XLS with a 4.0 6 cylinder flex fuel engine there is a Vehicle Emissons Control Information (VECI) decal on the UNDERSIDE of the hood (front near center). The decal states the spark plug gap should be from 1.32 mm to 1.42 mm converted to English units .052 to .056 inches.

How much does Ethanol reduce emissions?

they have found that e85 does not reduce emissons as much as one would see affectave.. this is so because it takes fuel and emissions to produce the ethanol, so in a way it is almost sending all the emisions that the car would otherwise prevent in to the air... this is just the beginning of new fuel scorces yet to come in the us.. many companies are finding and reserching new tecnologies to make viehicles more fuel efficent...

What does evaporator emission system leak mean in a Nissan Pathfinder?

That your gas cap is loose or needs to be replaced, or your evaporation hose is not connected or has a hole in it. This is nothing that will actually harm your car or prevent it from running well, but it does cause pollution, the evaporation system us what sucks back in gas fumes into the engine when your start your car, preventing the gas fumes from going into the air that we breath. Again, this won't make your car not run or stall on you or anything like that, but it will prevent you from passing your next emissons test.

What are solutions to protect earth's atmosphere?

By reducing the green house gases and emissons that are going into the air and also redcuing the amount of pollution that is being released into the air. For example, making electric cars that purely run on electricity or solar power or use mostly electricity and little gas would greatly help the environment and the earth's atmosphere because less pollution is being realeased into the air as gas powered cars let out smoke. There are several solutions and way's that we can help protect the earth's atmosphere. use ur biotechnic brain to help you out . Effort is the key in life to your success.

Why does your 4cl have 8 plugs?

Must be a Ford. Some manufactures installed 2 plugs per cylinder. The theory is more complete combustion, thus more power and better MPG.AnswerIt was used by Nissan in their pickups around 1988 to increase torque, combustion, and limit emissons. In these engines the driver was able to run incredibly low rpms as well. Answermy friend's Audi A4 1.8tt also has 2 spark plugs per cylinder. the theory is that it will improve the flame front and allow for a more complete combustion, basicly more power and better gas milage. i have seen it most commonly in rotary engines and small 4 cylinder engines.

Can you put a 1999 Chevy cavalier 2.2 engine in your 1996 ponitac sunfire?

actually yes. I've done this once before. the only difference I am aware of is the head and intake setup. The 99 head is slightly larger in the intake ports and the 99 uses a cam sensor in the back of the block which you wont need on the 96. just leave in there to plug the hole. It should still run fine as the 96 runs on a crank sensor signal alone. You will have to swap over some of your sensors as the harness is updated on the 99... and you may have some emissons parts that wont be used (cant remember) But I do know that the flywheel, bellhousing bolts, and motor mounts match up exactly the same. They only changed a couple minor things so it's not that hard of a swap if know what you are doing. Just make sure you don't have emission testing in your state or they may require you to pass the standards for a 99 because the engine is updated.
