From a dental perspective the position of the post auricular pain may be due to the empaction of your wisdom tooth on surrounding nerves. This would explain the pulsating pain and why you have had it before and it went away. Your teeth will grow minute amounts and then rest and then grow again. This is only a possible explanation.
