It depends on which version of Windows. Windows Vista requires around 8GB of install space, Windows XP requires around 2.5GB. Older versions such as 98 and 2000 only need around 200-500MB. Windows 95 can install in only 50Mb of hard disk space. Ideally, you would need to double these figures just to get a useful system up and running.
put a different disk in there and make a new entire movie
windows
It's a utility program - designed to 'join up' all the fragmented files on a disk. The BIG flaw with Windows is - when it needs to save data to a disc - it simply looks for the first piece of blank space. It doesn't matter whether the space is enough to save the data. Windows simply fills the first space it finds - then goes looking for more space if needed !

If I recall, XP can utilize a maximum of 2Gigs of RAM. I do not think there is any limit to the disk space.
The drive isn't large enough, or there isn't enough free space. Just like the error message says.
Windows xp supports a maximum of 4 gigabytes of ram and 2 Terabytes of hard drive space
disk space
Win8 need 20 GByte Hard disk space to install.
Since I know longer have a windows 95 disk I can't say for sure but I think it is around 50M to at most 100M. If you have the disk package it should say or the upgrade screen will probably tell you if you have enough. This is an old system and there is better stuff out there unless you have an old computer you want for some reason.
Answer: Most likely because of swap-file. Swap-files are used by windows to supplement your systems RAM. No matter how much RAM you have, its never enough for windows, so it takes chunks of your hard disk and uses them for short-term storage for stuff its currently working on. If you have a lot of programs running in the background this can take over a gigabyte of hard disk space easily. When displaying hard disk free space, windows doesnt take swap-files into account & thus it may show as having free space when in fact there isnt. For the health of your hard disk, and to ensure good system performance, it is a good rule of thumb to always keep at least 10% free space on your hard disk. Filling it up to 99% or 100% can often cause data corruption.
It means you don't have enough space for whatever stuff you want on it!!! Can you read English because that is English, and it told you fair and square that you did not have enough space!!!
