You need a high speed internet connection xbox live account,and if you want to talk to other people on xbox live than u need a headset.some games are not able to play on live. So make sure that if you want to play that game on live, before you buy it it says xbox live on the box and the disc.
You are going to need some sort of wireless connection (depending if one uses the cable to directly connect the Xbox and router). You're going to need a few games that allows Xbox Live interaction(s). You're going to need last but not least a Xbox live membership which includes it being a silver or gold membership.
