The Four Man Carry (or Hammock Carry) is a method of moving a casualty when you don't have a stretcher.
Two people kneel either side of the casualty and place their arms under the casualty so the casualty is supported from ankles to neck. One person gives the commands and the other three follow.
The command "ready to lift" is followed by "lift" and all four persons lift the casualty at the same time and step up from kneeling on the floor to kneeling with one foot forward.
After a pause, the command "ready to lift" is given again followed by "lift" and all four persons lift the casualty at the same time and rise up from kneeling with one foot forward to standing.
The patient can then be carried by the four persons to safety.
The key element is that all the lifters act together, and only one person gives the commands.
There are variations of this, including a three man lift and a two man lift.
There are quite a few videos on the internet that will demonstrate all of the above lifts.
