The throttle position sensor is an input to an engine control computer that sets the amount of mixture provided to the engine, in conjunction with the amount of air flowing into the engine - by setting the ifuel njection solenoid pulse length.
It could lay with the computer control modual or the distributor and in some cases the trotle posistion sensor.
behind your trotle body on top of your intake
Not sure what you mean here, but usually its a 1380 engine they bore out for...
Under the trotle body inside Intake manifold, needs to open it and you will find them, looks like a spider.
my kia rio 2001 losses power at 50 mph and if ipresss the acelerator to full trotle the power comes again but the engine after some secons fails again what can be the problem.
It's got to be a fuel problem. check fuel pressure, filter, injector leaks, [if equipped] I experienced this problem when I attempted to install a performance chip off Ebay. Also, found that you should bleed any air from your cooling system when you replace any of components or hoses. Check for a bleed valve on top of one of the hose-to-block fittings or the thermostat cover.
change your TPS trotle posioning sencer drive safe
get a nitrous kit off ebay....probily 20-35$ or ther is also a way to bypass one of the trotle spring to allow higher rpm's you can use a a pice of wire or somthing of that nature. do this by replacing the small spring with this wire.
AnswerI have just gone through such a problem, the engine would idle fine and then when you give it the gas, it would die. I have a 1996 trans am 5.7ltr v8, great car with no problems until now.... It turns out that the water pump was leaking and the water was running over the distributor which sits just below the water pump at the front of the engine. The more I accelorate the engine, the more the water would come out over the distributor. It seems that this is a design fault. I now have it fixed but find that the electric fans are not coming on, heating the engine during idle or in traffic. I now need to find out were the thermostat senser is to see why the fans are not coming on. All the more difficult because I live in Northern Ireland and getting parts or skilled help is like trying to pull hens teeth!!!!! Hope this helps. Colin Hi! another tip. I had the same problem on my 1996 when stepping on the gas it would die. However it wasn't leaking water into my optispark (distributor) it was the Idleling Air Control Valve. The next thing I would check for it would be the Trotle Body Position Sensor. Hope this helps!! Miguel
Look up "Idle Re-Learn" for Nissan Sentra. There is a process where the throttle body/Idle Sensor must be re-set. This can be done at the dealer or through a series of steps. Idle Relearn BASIC SERVICE PROCEDURE - Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds. - Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch ON and wait 3 seconds. - Repeat the following procedure quickly five times within 5 seconds. a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal. b. Fully release the accelerator pedal. - Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the MIL stops blinking and turned ON. - Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the MIL goes off. - Start engine and let it idle. - Wait 20 seconds. - Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure that idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications.
