Hibernation is a time when animals 'sleep' through cold weather.
Hibernation is a state of inactivity and metabolic depression in animals characterized by lower body temperature, slower breathing, heart rate, and reduced metabolic rate. During hibernation, animals conserve energy and survive on stored fat reserves.
Hello! well, for my information snakes find holes or burrous, and spend a long period in winter inactive. This is what we call "hiberation". We may find a group of snakes sitting in one cave ( we call this group " a hibernaculum). So, it's true to say that snakes spend the winter dormant. that's all I have friend, I hope it'll help you a little... Take care
Some animals hiberate during the winter. Most hibernating animals awaken in the spring. But occasionally, hibernating animals will awaken to eat during the winter. Some of the animals listed are not true hibernators, they just go dormant (suspended state) over the winter. Some cold-blooded creature have their own form of hibernation called estivation. badgers - dormant bats (some not all bats hibernate) - hibernates bears - dormant bees - estivation butterflies chipmunks - dormant dormouse - dormant earthworms - estivation fat tailed lemurs frogs - estivation groundhogs or woodchucks - dormant ground squirrels - hibernates hamsters - dormant hedgehogs - estivation ladybug lizards - estivation marmots - hiberation mosquitoes moths prairie dogs raccoons - dormant skunks - dormant squirrels - dormant snails - estivation snakes - estivation toads - estivation
if the butterfly's leg has fallen off completely you cant really do anything about it, but you can keep it safe from predators until it's leg has healed. if it hasn't fallen off completely just leave it, it will heal by itself.
An instinct is a thought, feeling or behavior that comes naturally to an organism. All instincts must be functional, universal and complex through out the same sex conspecifics of a species. More simply said they are adaptation in the brain. Instincts also range in flexibility. For example a baby's instinct to suck on their mother's nipple is very inflexible all normally functioning babies do it no matter where they are born. On the other extreme language is instintual for humans but it is very flexible- what language you speak depends on when and where you where raised.
